Have you heard of Witten?
It's a town in Germany.
Does it ring any bells with you?
It should do...
It's Barking and Dagenham's Twin town.
BARKING Photographic recently visited the town to capture a flavour of the local environment, so that Barking residents could gain an insight into Witten, and see how our twin town looks.
Our view of the town was quite positive. It was clean, with a good transport infrastructure, and the local market had a great selection of traditional German foods. Although no direct comparisons could be made with Barking, the only obvious 'twin' item was the branch of Subway, the sandwich shop!
We were disappointed that the tourism office didn't really know much about Barking & Dagenham, or its twinning, but we may have just caught them unawares, as we didn't contact them before our visit.
